This seems to be a popular spot in the Little Italy district. We got seated right away on a Saturday night even though the restaurant looked relatively busy. We had the Angel Hair Pasta with marinara sauce and a side of meatballs; and bruschetta and the gnocchi in gorgonzola and mushroom sauce. The bruschetta was crispy and the tomatoes were fresh. Both the meatballs and the Angel Hair Pasta were so-so. But the gnocchi was absolutely fantastic! The sauce was super yummy and the gnocchi themselves were like little stuffed pillows. I would come back just for that next time!

Came here while on vacation in SF. We wanted Italian for dinner but didn't have reservations anywhere. Looked online to find a few places and the looked around when we arrived and chose Sodini's. Super cute place. Very old school. It was casual and had a nice vibe. The friendly host (maybe the owner?) seated us right away (6:30pm on a Sunday), and soon after it got quite busy with every table full including most of the ones outside. The tables are covered in paper and there's a jar of crayons, so it was perfect for our 8 year old to play tic tac toe and draw. There is no kids menu. Our waitress was nice and efficient, but she had a lot of tables so we had to wait a bit to get and pay the check at the end. She did make an effort to check in on us. Water was always refilled promptly. Bread came out fast (it was so so). We placed our order quickly. Our side salads came out fast too--the caesar dressing was tasty but the salad was overdressed. Food took a little while, but I think they were just waiting for us to finish our salads. We ordered chicken parm, linguine with clams, and penne with pesto. Everything was tasty. I loved being able to see the kitchen from our table. Prices were average. Very large portions. If we lived in the area I could see this being a regular place for us.

Sodini's Trattatoria is so delicious! It was wonderful to watch chef make his pizza crust. The salami and pepperoni pizza transported me to Italy. My gnocchi with meat sauce was the balance of creamy and tangy. The gnocchi was stuffed with ricotta and spinach and comes with a bit of garlic bread. I soaked up every drop!!!

Great freshly cooked Italian food that looks as good as it tastes! My favorite was the clams pizza but everything else was not extraordinarily good or different which is the point. However, I feel their menu offers way more than necessary for their personal brand. I saw a pepperoni pizza, garlic steak fries along with traditional Italian dishes. It also showed a creamy sauce pasta as an option and alongside it has a carbonara which is presented as "creamy sauce pasta with pancetta". This is not how I'd expect an authentic carbonara to be described in the menu. It's no big deal but the menu definitely makes this restaurant feel less authentic than it is. The atmosphere is beautiful with old school Italian American figures and artworks on the walls and a vintage classic vibe. Divy and casual style. The server spoke very little and wasn't able to help very much with the ordering. There was some confusion with one of the dishes which was taken back after serving and served to some other table, which was odd. But other than that, it was a great time enjoying Italian food in a casual setting.
